Known across the globe as an inspirational musician and person, Lang Lang has infused his music and career with uplifting motifs. Together with his emotionally engaging style of playing the piano, this unique Lang Lang experience has already given joy to millions. From a young age he has performed for countless figureheads and personalities – both solo and together with other top artists. But he is perhaps best known for playing in front of audiences in public venues the world over – including online performances – and winning many hearts in the process. What’s more, his passion has also enthused millions of young hearts to explore not only their own latent talent, but the virtues and joys of classical music and the piano, too.

• Born 14 June 1982 in Shenyang, China
• Started playing piano at age 3 after earing Franz Liszt’s Hungarian Rhapsody No. 2 in a Tom & Jerry cartoon
• Won 1st place in Shenyang Piano Competition at age 5, performing first public recital
• In 1994, awarded 1st prize for outstanding artistic performance at 4th International Competition for Young Pianists in Ettlingen, Germany
• At 13 won 1st place the International Tchaikovsky Competition for Young Musicians in Japan
• Started studying in his 15th year with Gary Graffman at the Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia
• Classical career really took off when he was 17, with critics calling him an “overnight star”
• His biography, Journey of a Thousand Miles, has been published by Random House in eleven languages, and was released to critical acclaim
• Time Magazine recently included Lang Lang in the “Time 100”, the magazine’s annual list of the 100 Most Influential People in the World, naming him as a symbol of the youth of China
